General Description
Liriel is one of those lucky people blessed with a metabolism fast enough to allow her to eat just about anything she wants without gaining weight. She is very aware of her good looks and is more than a little vain. She wears her long, slightly wavy hair loose most of the time except when in Herbology where she braids it back so as not to get dirty.
She likes wearing fashionable Muggle clothing when not required to be in school uniform. This has become a bit of a fad with Liriel's social group.
Personality
Liriel is not overtly ambitious. She doesn't want power or recognition for herself. Instead, she wants to facilitate others getting such things. She has a large network of friend and contacts most of whom are indebted to her in some way. Liriel herself may not be able to get you what you need, but she knows someone who can.
However, Liriel is not necessarily cold or cruelly manipulative. She honestly wants to help people, so honestly that she doesn't care too much about who she helps. She won't directly help someone break school rules (or the law), but she could be taken advantage of....
Liriel's biggest current worry is what she's going to do once she finishes her year. University looks interesting, but she's not particularly focused on any one area. Her current boyfriend wants her to come tour Europe with him, but the relationship is starting to bore Liriel and she doubts it will last out the year. She might still tour Europe anyway, if only to meet and make contacts.
Background:
During the War with He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named, Arianna and Richard Wolfram went into hiding in the Muggle world by moving to London. Arianna had just become pregnant with Liriel and they decided it would be safer for both of them to lay low in the Muggle world to avoid any attention from You-Know-Who. Arianna got a job waiting tables at a restaurant while writing fantasy novels inspired by her experiences in wearing world. Richard got a job with a Muggle tabloid newspapers and worked with the Ministry of Magic’s Muggle Misinformation division to keep as much from the Muggle world as possible.
Liriel was born safe and healthy. Arianna sold her first book to a Muggle publisher soon after Liriel’s birth and the family settled into a mostly normal Muggle life. A few years later, Arianna became pregnant again, this time with Delenna. While having two young children to feed was a bit trickier money-wise, they were a happy, normal family flying low under You-Know-Who’s radar.
At first, Liriel hated the idea of having a younger sister. Delenna was just a crying overly-needy baby that took Arianna and Richard's attention away from her. Eventually though, Liriel realized that Delenna wasn't _all_ bad, and their relationship normalized.
Magic has never been a hidden topic within the Wolfram household, though Liriel learned from a young age that she was NOT to talk about it with outsiders. Magic itself never particularly fascinated her, but she loved hearing her parents stories about their friends and schoolmates from Hogwarts. There seemed to be so many interesting people there! Thus, when Liriel's owl arrived with her admittance letter, she was thrilled. Now she would get to experience all that too!
At Hogwarts, Liriel has been a middling student, not doing exceptionally well, but not falling too far behind either. Instead, since her second year, Liriel has focused most of her attention on making friends and social connections.

Professor Dumbledore:
Liriel agrees with her parents that Dumbledore is a "crazy old bat." She has no particular love for him, but he's okay.
Professor Snape:
Liriel dropped Potions the moment she was able to. Snape is an evil dictator with an unfair bias toward Slytherins.
Professor Quirrell:
He seems like he'll be an interesting professor, but she wishes she'd been able to get through Hogwarts with less than 7 professors. She hopes he's not too tough.
Professor Kettleburn:
He's a nice enough professor, but she really likes him because his class is easy to pass. Plus, it gets you out of the stuffy halls of Hogwarts every so often.
