Part III: Detailed Information

General Description
Delenna inherited her father’s large build and slower metabolism, much to her dismay, especially because her older sister Liriel takes after their mother and is stick thin all the time. Delenna is not overweight however, at least not horrendously so. Quidditch practice keeps her in pretty good shape and she tries to watch what she eats.

Delenna has still not quite acclimated to puberty yet. She shot up in height last year and is still not always sure where all her limbs are. This makes her a tad clumsy, which she hates. This clumsiness goes away when she’s flying, another reason she’d stay on a broom all day if she could.

Delenna doesn’t worry too much about her physical appearance. She showers and keeps her hair brushed and all, but when she’s not in school uniform her fashion sense boils down to “is it clean and fits? Good”. Due to her upbringing, she has a better than average handle on Muggle fashion.

Personality
Delenna wants to be like her older sister Liriel; beautiful, popular and well respected. In comparison, Delenna feels rather plain and socially awkward. Due to some bad experiences with backstabbing “friends” her first two years, she doesn’t trust people easily. She is closest to her Quidditch teammates, but she doesn’t have too much in common with most of them.

She is a loner, preferring to spend much of her free time in the library, rather than the Ravenclaw common room. She’d not exceptionally quick on the uptake and has in the past been the victim of some pranks and practical jokes. She cultivates an “I don’t care what you think because I know I’m better than you” attitude, but in reality she does want people to think well of her.

Delenna is most happy playing Quidditch. She thinks that being a Beater on the Ravenclaw team will give her a place to belong and help boost her confidence. She loves to fly, feeling the most at home on a broomstick. She is saving up for a good Cleansweep 6 broom.

Background:
During the War with He-Who-Should-Not-Be-Named, Arianna and Richard Wolfram went into hiding in the Muggle world by moving to London. Arianna had just become pregnant with Liriel and they decided it would be safer for both of them to lay low in the Muggle world to avoid any attention from You-Know-Who. Arianna got a job waiting tables at a restaurant while writing fantasy novels inspired by her experiences in wearing world. Richard got a job with a Muggle tabloid newspapers and worked with the Ministry of Magic’s Muggle Misinformation division to keep as much from the Muggle world as possible.

Liriel was born safe and healthy. Arianna sold her first book to a Muggle publisher soon after Liriel’s birth and the family settled into a mostly normal Muggle life. A few years later, Arianna became pregnant again, this time with Delenna. While having two young children to feed was a bit trickier money-wise, they were a happy, normal family flying low under You-Know-Who’s radar.

Magic and Hogwarts was always explained to Delenna as something that some people had and got to do, but not everyone, so it was best not to talk about it. Arianna and Richard were by no means certain that their daughters would be accepted to Hogwarts and didn’t want to burden the girls with false hopes. They kept to a very respectable Muggle lifestyle, even after the defeat of You-Know-Who, rationalizing that it would make their children better rounded over all. Knowing nothing else, Delenna was quite content. Sure she was envious when Liriel received her letter to Hogwarts, but the distraction of her new baby brother kept her from dwelling too much on it.

However, when the letter from Hogwarts did come, Delenna was overjoyed. She would get to learn magic! She would get to read all the interesting books her parents were always talking about and take those interesting-sounding classes Liriel was always going on about! And Hogwarts students were sure to be smarter and nicer than the brats at her current school.

Sadly this wasn’t the case. While she was sorted into Ravenclaw she was still far too bookish and awkward to make many friends in her house. She was taken advantage of several times by several girls who would pretend to be her friend only to talk about her later behind her back. So Delenna drew in on herself, spending more and more time in the library reading about Quidditch, which was her new passion. She tried out for the Ravenclaw team twice, once her second and once her third year before finally making the team this year as a Beater.

Please explain how your character feels about the following characters.

Professor Dumbledore:
Well, her parents always lovingly refer to him as “that crazy ol’ bat”. After three years at Hogwarts, Delenna has come to agree with their assessment. He’s a fabulously lovely man, but crazy as a loon.
Professor Snape:
He’s not her favorite teacher, but she doesn’t hate him. His favoritism towards Slytherins annoys her, but she sees little she can do to get around that.
Professor Quirrell:
Another year, another DADA professor. When will they get one who’ll stay?
Professor Kettleburn:
Again, he’s not one of her favorite professors, but his class is interesting enough. He knows a lot and doesn’t mind answering a lot of questions, which always gets a teacher high marks in Delenna’s book.
