General Information

This is a "shared world" club. Every member has a hand in shaping the world and its events. All characters exist in the same world, and the actions of one can affect the play of all.

The primary setting of the club is Hogwarts School of Witchraft and Wizardry in Great Britain. Members will create original student characters or "adopt" certain established characters to interact within this setting. At this time, members are not permitted to have teachers as player characters.

The stories' current timeline runs several years behind the novels. Our current school year is 1989-1990. Harry Potter has not yet come to Hogwarts. He will arrive in two years' time. Consequently, certain facts have yet to be established in the wizarding world. Common beliefs of the time are:

• Voldemort is dead. He was defeated and cannot return.
• Sirius Black is a crazy mass-murderer. He is safely locked up in Azkaban.
• A "Harry Potter" sighting is a rare and momentous occasion, but you mustn't let him know that.
• Professor Snape is not considered "evil" except by those who fail his class. He no longer works for Voldemort, and the faculty and staff trust him completely.
• Professor Quirrell is a new and competent Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher. He has not yet gone abroad.

Current faculty at Hogwarts are, by and large, the same group who will be teaching Harry in a few years. However, there are a few notable exceptions. This game also allows 6^th and 7^th year students to take certain "elective" classes for a term. The full list of faculty and their teaching assignments is as follows:

The stories of Shared Hogwarts will parallel the world established by JK Rowling in many ways. However, Shared Hogwarts will differ in a few important ways: in the Wizarding World of Shared Hogwarts, 6^th and 7^th years may take optional elective classes each term, and there are Wizarding Universities. Ms. Rowling has stated in interviews that wizards do not have universities, and the elective classes are purely from our own imaginings. These differences will serve to enhance our playable terrain.

To better understand where in the Harry Potter time line our game takes place, here are the current ages of some of the people Harry will meet in a few years time:
